ChatGPT web
No API key is needed. ChatGPT sends you to PrompTessor to sign in and approve the requested permissions, then returns you to ChatGPT with the connection ready to use.
Open chatgpt.com/plugins and add the connection using the values below.
- 1
Enable Developer mode
In ChatGPT, open Settings > Security and login, then turn on Developer mode. Availability can depend on your account and workspace policy.
- 2
Open Plugins
Go to chatgpt.com/plugins and select the plus button to add a connection.
- 3
Enter the connection details
Use PrompTessor as the name, optionally add a short description, and paste the Server URL shown below.

- 4
Create and authorize
Select Create connection. Sign in to PrompTessor, review the requested scopes, and approve access. ChatGPT then returns to the connection and discovers its tools.
If no app actions are available yet
Open the PrompTessor plugin details and select Refresh in the Information section. Wait for discovery to finish, then reopen the plugin if necessary.
- 5
Enable it in a chat
Start a new conversation, open the tools menu, and add PrompTessor to the conversation.
- 6
Verify the connection
Ask “Check my PrompTessor usage.” ChatGPT should select get_usage and return your current credits and API limits.
If the plus button is unavailable
Developer mode or custom MCP connections may be disabled for your account or workspace. Ask the workspace administrator to allow them, or use Codex, Claude, Cursor, VS Code, or another supported MCP client.
After the plugin is published
Developer mode is for testing a direct MCP connection. Once the PrompTessor plugin is approved and listed, regular users install it from ChatGPT Plugins and enable its tools without creating the connection manually.
